1. Returns are by exchange
If a helmet isn’t right for you, you can return it and exchange it for another helmet within 7 days of receiving it, counted from the day it is delivered to you, or the day you buy it in our store.
We don’t offer refunds. Helmets that meet the conditions below can be exchanged for another helmet, but not returned for money back.
2. Condition of the helmet
To be accepted for a return, the helmet must be:
- Unused: not worn while riding;
- With all stickers and labels still on it. Helmets with any sticker or label removed cannot be returned;
- free of scratches, marks or other damage;
- complete, with its original box, packaging and any accessories that came with it (for example visors or bags); and
- accompanied by proof of purchase, such as your receipt or WhatsApp order confirmation.
These conditions exist for hygiene and safety reasons: we can only take back a helmet that we could sell to another rider as new.
3. How to request a return
Contact us within the 7-day period on WhatsApp (077 073 9980), by phone on 076 666 9980, by email at tavisgomotors@gmail.com, or through our contact form. Please tell us:
- your name and the phone number used for the order;
- which helmet (and size) you bought; and
- which helmet or size you’d like instead, if you know.
You can bring the helmet to our store in Dehiwala, or send it back by courier. If you send it, please pack it as described in Packing your return below, and send us the courier’s tracking number on WhatsApp.
4. Packing your return
If you send the helmet back by courier, it has to be packed properly. Parcels travel a long way across the island and pass through many hands and machines, so good packing is the best way to avoid damage and delays.
Please do:
- keep the helmet in its original box with its accessories and all stickers and labels, then put that box inside a strong outer package. The original box on its own is not enough;
- wrap the box in bubble wrap and pack it in a sturdy corrugated (cardboard) box, filling any empty space so the helmet can’t move;
- seal the outer box with tape, applied evenly across the flaps and seams on both the top and bottom, with no open or torn ends;
- pack the sealed parcel in a tamper-proof polythene bag, which our courier requires for every parcel; and
- label it clearly with your full name, complete address and phone number, on the largest surface of the parcel, with any packing slip on the same side and facing the same way.
Please don’t use:
- paper bags, paper envelopes, shopping bags or any bag with an open top;
- a transparent poly bag as the final layer;
- staples to close the package, because they can be removed easily; or
- the helmet’s original box as the only packaging.
Before you send it, take a few photos of the helmet and of the packed parcel. A helmet that is damaged in transit because it was not packed properly cannot be exchanged, and the courier does not cover loss or damage caused by inadequate packaging.
5. Inspection and outcome
When we receive the helmet we’ll inspect it against the conditions above. If it qualifies, we’ll confirm the details of the exchange with you.
6. Helmets we can’t take back
- Helmets brought back more than 7 days after you received them;
- helmets that have been worn while riding or show signs of use;
- helmets with any stickers or labels removed;
- helmets that are damaged, incomplete or missing their original packaging; and
- helmets damaged in transit because the return parcel was not packed as described above.
7. Faulty or incorrect items
If your helmet arrives damaged, faulty or isn’t what you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible (ideally on the day you receive it) with photos, and we’ll work with you to put it right.
This policy does not affect any rights you have under Sri Lankan consumer protection law.
8. Questions
If you’re unsure whether a helmet can be returned, ask us before removing anything from it. See also our Terms & Conditions and Delivery information.
